Lonestar Roundup 2011, Austin Texas

If you like traditional rods and customs, then the Lonestar Roundup should be on your bucket list. Here's a few of the highlights:

There were quite a few early Falcons in town, including a couple of gassers

After the show (which cost only $10 to get into and included a cacklefest and mini bike races) our armbands got us into the after-party at the Austin Speed Shop...with live music and free beer!

Bob Bleed is the Speed Shop's chassis guy, but it turns out he is a pretty good muso too with his band the Jade Idols.

Man, this is a sweet body style...'67?

There was a neat little rod-show held at Werrington (near Penrith, NSW) over the weekend. The rules were similar to the Chopped show in Vic, with no billet rims, no uncovered IFS or EFI allowed in. The cut-off was a little more generous, set at 1969. It was a great little low-key show, with plenty of cool drag cars there to promote the upcoming Day of the Drags at Sydney Dragway. Tug in the Park 2011 - Tough Truck

 
My favourite ride of this year's Tug (a little rod run at Stanwell Tops, NSW) was Laurie Bellette's 1938 Ford COE. The truck runs a C20 chassis and small-block Chev combo for many effortless miles of cruising.
