The best little car show hit town again, of course, I'm talking about Super Model Car Sunday. Upwards of 800 models were on display, built by 77 different modellers. As always, the range and variety of models on display was sensational, with everything from customised Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars right up to radio controlled Road Trains with realistic sound effects.
This HQ coupe is a new offering from www.thepartsbox.com and is a very highly detailed curbside model. Basically all it doesn't have is an engine, although the detail is moulded into the chassis which features a separate diff. And in case you're wondering, yes they are working on a decal set for them.

We featured Dave Loye and some of his models in the June '09 issue. This is his take on what a '36 Ford should look like, and as usual, he's nailed it.
Custom Humpy was put together by Tony Ashton and features some neat touches such as canted quad headlights and a Desoto grille.
Richard Borozdine takes 1/25th scale models and turns them into some of the nicest slot cars you'll ever see.
This super clean '55 Nomad was built by Ben Kelly who was one of the 'Modellers of the Future'. In other words, he's just a kid! I was happy if I kept the glue off the windows at his age.
Just a small portion of the 'Nostalgia Nationals' diorama that featured some 170 models of every type of drag car imaginable.
Thankfully I'm not quite old enough to remember when smoking was safe, but who cares, I'd still wear it!

The West Coast Street Rod Club clubrooms is the perfect spot for this event and organiser Alan Barton and his small committee do an oustanding job of putting on a great show each year. This was the 11th one so far, and by the look of it, it'll be around for quite a while yet.
So, if you like your cars small and plasticky and you happen to be in Perth on the second Sunday in July, make sure you check it out.
