Mid Week Garage Crawl

Wednesday night saw us at Kreative Enterprises in South Windsor. The guys from Macquarie Towns Hot Rod Club were having one of their regular club get togethers, and invited us to tag along. Kreative do everything from minor fab work through to complete turn key streeters, and were responsible for the fabrication work on the 700rwhp Rambler Hornet we featured in the April issue. After checking out the current crop of projects on hand, the barbie was fired up. With a content belly and a head full of inspiration, it was time to head home through the fog. A good night!

Zap's New Rat?

Well, not really. It's a brand new car out of John Zappia Racing that was built for Craig Pedley. He's the man behind Striker Crushing, the quickest sponsorship stickers in Top Doorslammer racing. He must have got sick of sitting around watching Zap kick everyone's butt, so he's getting his own HQ.

John's going to do the test and tune on the car and once it's sorted he'll hand it over to Craig to pedal. Using a few left over bits - like the motor that went 5.92 in Zap's Rat - John reckons it's no pointing wearing out new stuff while they sort the car out. He reckons the motor has a 5.80 in it though.

So watch out boys and girls. Anyone for side-by-side 5-second HQs? Yes Please!

EH ALL STATE RUN 2009

 

The ASR is held every two years in a different location - this time it was Perth! Jason O'Leary did the sensible thing and drove his show-standard, LS1-powered EH from the Gold Coast.

 

The variety of engine swaps and mechanical mods was awesome. Gordon Cornish's wagon packs a red motor that has been hyped up with a VK EFI manifold, Autronic ECU and a fat turbo - good enough for 300hp on low boost. A TH700 and 9in make for a stout driveline.

   

Phil Hutton's budget-built EH was screwed together in just three months, including swapping in an injected 5.0-litre. Phil made the most of the driving events!

Since we featured Jason's car back in December 2007, he has added a bunch of refinements, including air con. CV8 instruments and a way-cool metal console.
